The Holiday Home Show was a big hit!

Here are all the artists who hand crafted so many beautiful items that were snapped up by the guests at the Holiday Home Show last Sunday.

We had wonderful quilts of all sizes and types, knits, woven scarfs, pottery, wood boxes, jewelry, decorated gourds, beaded bookmarks and paper crafts.  All my glitter ball ornaments were purchased.  I managed to get a picture of this one before it was sold.

I'll definitely be making more!  Everyone had a great time.  Here are a few more pictures, you can click on them to see the full size image.

Veteran's Day Thank You

Thank you to all the Veterans who serve so valiantly!  And thank you to my special veteran, my Dad who proudly served in the Navy during the Korean War.

Let's hope that all the spending cuts promised by the new Congress don't affect the Veterans Administration.  I have spent many days at the Washington DC VA Medical Center with my Dad.  In addition to the older veterans like my Dad, there are so many young veterans who will need help for the rest of their lives. We should honor their sacrifices and not cut funding for the care they need so much.

Beautiful card from Kathy Winland

My stamping friends are sooo nice!  A few weeks ago I spent a few hours with my fellow SU demo friend Kathy Winland working on cards for the Ronald McDonald house.  Well, "working" is really not the correct word, playing is more like it!  Making cards with a friend for a good cause is a great way to spend time!  I mean we were watching Glee reruns, how can that not be fun!  Anyway, to put the icing on the cake, Kathy sent me this beautiful thank you card!  I love this French Foliage set, it's so perfect for this time of year!

Happy Birthday Arleen!

One of the best things about being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator is meeting new people, especially other SU demos.  Today we are celebrating Arleen's birthday.  Arleen is a fellow SU demo and an extremely talented stamper.  I am very happy that we've met at SU meetings and I feel privileged to call her a friend.  Her creations are always gorgeous, she even tackles complex 3D items that amaze me.  I'm not sure I have that much patience yet!  I made he a quick birthday card using the Herb Expressions set.  Arleen does a lot of gardening, she even has a chicken!  So I thought this set was appropriate for her.                                                                   

I used Old Olive for the card base with Melon Mambo and Pink Pirouette.  I watercolored the images, then added a few dots of Illuminate Top Coat Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink over the flowers to give them a little bling.  Then added a piece of Old Olive 3/8" Tafetta Ribbon to finish.  I had to keep the layers and accents to a minimum so that the Post Office would not complain!  They sure are getting fussing about thick or odd sized envelopes these days.

CK Scrap & Play - a really cool event!

I just got back from the Valley Forge CK Scrap & Play with my good friend Maria Pane.  We had a wonderful time!!!  If you ever get a chance to go - do it!  Really cool classes, lots of free goodies, both in our registration bags and in door prizes.  We certainly received more in product than we spent on the registration fee.  In fact, I won a Cricut Expression!!!  SO COOL!!!  I've never won anything like that before!  The CK staff were amazing - so friendly, so helpful and they taught great classes.  Lisa Bearnson gave a wonderful keynote about putting joy in the journey, there were many moist eyes in the room when she finished!  Overall, a great event!  Here is a picture of us at the end of the second day, it was almost midnight and we were happy & tired.

Our tablemates thought this was a representative picture of us: Maria working on something and me laughing!  Check back later, when I'll be sharing the projects we made.

Sometimes it's good to keep retired stamp sets

I like keeping certain retired stamp sets, especially ones with specific themes.  I used the retired Game Night set on this card for a friend of mine that celebrated his 50th birthday on 10/10/10.  His party had a game night theme with two black jack tables and a roulette table with real dealers!

It's a spinner card, the dice moves back and forth!  Cute, huh?  I included some of the words from the matching DSP on the inside of the card.

I also made a Simply Adorned charm insert for me to wear.  Had to have the right accessories!

It was a fun evening, I learned how to play roulette, I had no idea there were so many ways to pick numbers or sets of numbers.  Even though it was play money, I was thrilled when I won with a $100 chip placed on the line between 7 & 8!  Fun!  Although I would NEVER bet that much of real money, I work way too hard to earn it!

RemARKable Holiday Madness Blog Tour - Post 7

Today I have the ultimate holiday present - a handmade calendar.  I created a 2010 calendar in My Digital Studio, each month has pictures taken in that month from a previous year.  I had a few printed and gave them as presents to my hubby, my parents and one for me!  Here are a few of the pages.

 

My Digital Studio is so easy to use!  There are so many templates included that you can just add your pictures and you are done.  It's also very powerful and you can make your creations starting with a blank page.  These calendars were a big hit!  I need to start working on 2011.

I hope you enjoyed the tour as much as we did.  It's hard to believe that today is the last day!  I still have lots of ideas to share, so subscribe to my feed or bookmark the URL and check back frequently!
