Every so often a card or scrapbooking idea comes to me right away. I had the idea for this card as soon as I saw this stamp set and the new In Colors. I was sure Crushed Curry would work perfectly with Old Olive, one of my all time faves. I also thought the grass from Inspired by Nature would be a good background for the Asian Artistry hostess set.
To stamp the focal image of the bird in the bamboo, I used a technique we learned at convention last year. I inked the entire image with Old Olive, then "removed" the Old Olive ink from the bird using a blender pen, then re-inked the bird using the new Crushed Curry marker, huff and stamp. Presto - a clean & clear two color stamped image! Then I did a little bit of watercoloring to fill in the bird. The final touch was the dragonfly which I inked in Versamark, then Bermuda Bay and stamped it on the grass. Since I used the Versamark, the ink was moist enough to hold Irridescent Ice embossing powder. I heat set the embossing powder and then filled in the wings with Crystal Effects. Full ingredients below.
Happy Fourth of July everyone. I guess I should have made a red, white & blue card! (Correction, a Real Red, Whisper White & Brilliant Blue card.)
Enjoy,
Lisa
