Anxiously Awaiting Spring!

Today I'm sharing 2 cards made from the same layout, both in spring colors.  

Yesterday I spent the day at Kathy Winland's shoe box swap.  We had 30 stampers making cards, sharing stories and eating lots of yummy food.  What a fun way to spend the day!  I wanted to keep my card clean & simple and easy to make.  I used the color combination from the Cottage Wall DSP: Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulence and Old Olive. I added a little "spring" tag using the new Jewlery Tag punch.  And, of course, Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the flower centers.  I also highlighted the center flower by popping it up with Dimensionals.   

My upline challenged us to create a card using a stamp set from the 2090-2010 Idea Book & catalog with embellishments from the Occasions mini.  I used the same layout and stamp set, but the base layer is Shades of Spring DSP and I took the colors from it: Orchid Opulence, Pretty in Pink and Certainly Celery.  For embellishments, I used the Pretty in Pink Sending Love Epoxy Brads and that luscious new satin ribbon in Certainly Celery.  This time the Jewelry Tag punched tag says "friends" from the Tiny Tags set.  When you have a good layout, go ahead use it multiple ways.  It's fun and saves create time!

Spring Birds

I am so ready for spring!  I made these adorable birds from the new On Board Bird book in the Occasions mini.

These are so simple & so much fun!  They are covered with Kaleidoscope DSP  on the front and solid card stock on the back.  The feet are unfolded large paper clips.  I decorated them with various ribbons and other embellishments.  So much fun, so cute and such a touch of spring!

This is what the "naked" On Board Bird books look like.  Just screaming to be played with.

If you haven't used the Kaleidoscope DSP yet, you are missing out.  This paper is so cool!  If works great for the birds and also cards & scrapbook pages, it's luscious!

I'm off to a shoe box swap tomorrow, so I'm sure I'll have a lot to share with you next week.

Shades of Spring

I am soooo ready for spring!  Playing around with some of the cool new DSP from the Occasions mini and the new On Board Bird Book, I made this plant decoration.  I thought it might be a nice way to decorate an Easter Lilly plant for Easter.  I covered the chipboard bird shape with the DSP, cut out a few extra pieces of DSP for the wing and tail feather and attached them with Dimensionals.  Added a circle Rhinestone brad for the eye.  Then the fun began with glue & glitter!  I dyed a popsicle stick with Certainly Celery ink and attached it to the back with Sticky Tape.  All ready to decorate any plant!  This would make a nice gift for the plant lovers in your life.  Contact me to order the supplies.

Humongous Icicle

Yesterday I spent the day in Boston on a business trip.  The saddest/funniest thing is that Boston has no snow!  The ground is clear, no snow anywhere!  I took a window seat on the plane coming home and noticed that the further south we got, the more snow there was!  Weird!  Anyway, I hope we are done with snow for a while.  I know my husband sure is sick of shoveling it!  I had to share this picture of a huge icicle hanging just outside one of the sunroom windows.  The center icicle was 8" wide!  It's the biggest icicle I have ever seen.

Valentines Open House Postponed Due to Weather

Our neighborhood is in bad shape due to all the snow. Based on experience, I doubt it will be in "party" condition by Saturday.  So I think it's best to postpone for a while.  I think it is the safe thing to do!  I'll let you all know when I reschedule.  I'm going to wait until the snow is all done!
