What says summer more than ice cream?  I LOVE ice cream!  I love this new set from the Summer mini that starts May 1!

I made this card at Diva day, a special privilege we can earn from Jan Wakeland.  When we earn it, we get to go to her stamping studio, do make & takes and then play with all her stamps and everything!  Play time for adults!  So fun!  This card uses the Sweet Scoops set and Island Oasis DSP, and glitter, of course!

Summer Mini sneak peak

The new Summer Mini starts in 2 weeks, and is it cool!  If you have not gotten yours in the mail yet, please let me know, I'll be happy to send you one.  There is so much cool new stuff, I wanted to do something fun and colorful for the swap I just participated in. 

I love the Favorite Thoughts set!  It has such cool and hilarious sayings, I know I will use it a lot.  The rest of the card uses the Island Oasis DSP and Tropical Party stamp set.  The Island Oasis collection includes the DSP, stamp set, a bigz die to make leis with, little party favor boxes and an Old Olive polka dot 6 x 6 album.  It's all so summery & cheerful!  I had fun embossing the coconut and coloring in all the little umbrellas.  I'll share some of the other cards from the swap in the next few days.

Big Shot cards

Now that the cards are all swapped out, I can share my cards from a recent Big Shot swap.  We each used a Big Shot die or embosslit with a texture plate or embossing folder.  For this card I used the Stampin’ Up! Hi embosslit and the Perfect Polka Dots Stampin' Up! Textured Impressions Die embossing . The Stampin’ Up! Hi embosslit die is so cool - it embosses and cuts all in one pass!  I kept the colors very cool and low key thinking this card would be good for either a male or female recipient.

 

For this card I used the Stampin’ Up! Flower Burst embosslit and the Perfect Polka Dots Stampin' Up! Textured Impressions Die embossing folder.  I took the color cues from the Razzleberry Lemonade DSP (love that DSP!).  I sponged a little Pumpkin Pie ink over the Crushed Curry flower to bring out the detail.

 

This card was made using the Stampin’ Up! Hearts & Brackets originals die and the paisley pattern from the Texture Plates Kit #4.  I love paisley designs, so to make the design more prominent I covered the texture plate with Very Vanilla ink before running it through the Big Shot with Creamy Caramel card stock.  It made a very nice pattern and washed off the texture plate easily!  Very cool!

Do it yourself DSP!

I love My Digital Studio!  One of my new favorite ways to use MDS is to make DSP.  I recently participated in a Black & White swap.  SU doesn't currently have any black & white DSP, so I made my own in MDS. 

It was so easy, I opened up a blank 8 1/2 x 11 page.  Added a photo box that I sized to 4" x 5 1/4".  I filled that with Basic Black Soft Flowers DSP.  Then I created another photo box sized to 2 3/4" x 5 1/4" which I also filled with Basic Black Soft Flowers DSP which I converted to "negative" by clicking on Photo Affect then Negative.  Presto - Black on white DSP from white on black DSP!  COOL!  Then I arranged the white on black DSP box on top of the black on white DSP box.  Grouped that and copied it 3 more times.  I ended up with a sheet that looked like this:

Then I printed it on Whisper White card stock, cut it into 4 quarters and I had the DSP for my swap.  All I had to do was add the ribbon and the stamped images and I was done!  So cool!

Thirty Toteally Tess Tags!

I had a great time at the Remarkably Hot Retreat last weekend!  I spent most of the weekend making these tags. 

They are for a stamp camp that my friend Maria Pane had back during the snow storms.  I wasn't able to go because that was one of the days we got 20" of snow, but Baltimore only got a few. The ladies all made extras of their stamp camp projects for me and I said I would make my stamp camp project for them.  Being the procrastinator I am, I put if off until the retreat.  So I had a wonderful time making 30 of these tags!  Each tag matches the ladies hair color and their favorite SU color.  I matched the DSP used for the pants with the favorite colors and hair colors.  Then I had to pick a matching color for the accessories.  All were colored using SU Watercolor Wonder Crayons with a blender pen.  The back of the tag is DSP with their names stamped with Jumble Alphabet.  It took quite a while, but I had so much fun!  Maria posted them on her blog here.  If you'd like a tag, contact me!

Color Renovation!

After 2 years of extensive research Stampin' Up! is renovating our color collections!  As of July 1, there will be 4 core color collections of 10 colors each!  10 of the most popular "old" In Colors are returning and there are 5 brand new core colors.  All new In Colors will last for 2 years, with 5 new ones every year.   Here is the new line up.

To make room for the new, we need to say goodbye to some of the other colors:
