Currently, my absolute favorite way to go green and use up my paper scraps is to make Simply Adorned charm inserts. However, Michele Reynolds covered that yesterday on the tour.
So I decided to try something else I have been thinking about. Using the Big Shot with fabric is the latest craze right now. I used to sew a lot. So like any good sewer, I have a huge stash of fabric just waiting to be used. I also drink a lot of water, preferably ice cold. So I am always in need of drink coasters. I found this adorable shamrock fabric in my stash, and decided to try making coasters using my Big Shot. Here is the result.
A set of 4 shamrock coasters, all wrapped and ready to give to a friend of mine. I'll have to make another set for me! This was so quick & easy, I think I'll make coasters to match all the seasons!
Each coaster used 2 pieces of fabric and 2 pieces of felt for the inside. I fused it all together with iron on fusible web, all from my stash. I cut the fabric and the fusible web with the scalloped circle bigz die. I cut the felt with the clear circle bigz die. Then I made the sandwich: fabric print side down, felt circle, fusible web, felt circle, fabric right side up. Here is half the sandwich (fabric, felt, fusible web). You can see that the felt circles fit perfectly inside the scalloped circle leaving just enough to seal the edges together.
Then I just followed the directions on the fusible web to fuse it all together. In my case, 15 seconds with a hot dry iron and a damp pressing cloth. The final result:
I wrapped four together in some of the luscious satin ribbon in the Occasions mini. Then I made a tag using the Go Green stamp and Sweet Pea Stitched Felt also in the Occasions mini.
I think these would make cute hostess gifts, craft show gifts, or a "thinking of you" gift.

Here is the cover of a cute scrapbook I made using the new On Board Heart Book in the Occasions mini with the Love Sparkles Simply Scrappin' kit. I thought it would be fun to record my favorite things right now and then be able to look back at it years from now.
I'll share some of the inside pages once the blog tour is over, so check back for them. When I was finished I had several square chipboard pieces with a big open heart shape in the middle. Well, I thought these would be a great project for this Going Green blog tour. What's more eco-conscious than using both the negative & positive parts of the chipboard? So I created this sun catcher.
As you can see, we were still under siege from the snow when I hung it up! This was so simple & so fun, it would be a good project for young crafters. I painted the chipboard with the Frost White Shimmer Paint which made the chipboard look like silver! Another nice surprise! Then I mixed the same shimmer paint with a few drops of Classic Ink refill, which I swished on a piece of acetate. Then I coated the wet paint with Dazzling Diamonds glitter. I repeated the process with another color of ink and a second piece of acetate. Once they dried a little, I put them together to sandwich the glitter inside the acetate. Then I used Sticky Strip to attach the acetate sandwich inside the painted chipboard sandwich. Added a piece of Basic Gray Taffeta Ribbon to hang it and silver brads on the corners to make sure it stays together. Here is a closer view.
Pretty cool for stuff that would normally be thrown out!

My project for today is a banner I made out of our new On Board Scallop Circle book, Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper, Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon and the adorable Eggcellent Eggs Kit all from the Occasions Mini.
Here are close-ups of each letter, click on each picture to see the flowers and rhinestone embellishments from the Eggcellent Eggs Kit. And I still have lots leftover from the kit to actually do my Easter Eggs!
Each letter is covered in the celery glitter from our Fine Cosmo Stampin' Glitter. I thought about adding other embellishments, but I liked it this way and did not want to "guild the lily". The On Board book bases are painted with our craft ink refills, used just like paint. I also used my Big Shot to cut the designer paper scalloped circles, and the pink circles under each letter. Oh how I love my Big Shot!

Today I'm sharing 2 cards made from the same layout, both in spring colors.
Yesterday I spent the day at Kathy Winland's shoe box swap. We had 30 stampers making cards, sharing stories and eating lots of yummy food. What a fun way to spend the day! I wanted to keep my card clean & simple and easy to make. I used the color combination from the Cottage Wall DSP: Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulence and Old Olive. I added a little "spring" tag using the new Jewlery Tag punch. And, of course, Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the flower centers. I also highlighted the center flower by popping it up with Dimensionals.
My upline challenged us to create a card using a stamp set from the 2090-2010 Idea Book & catalog with embellishments from the Occasions mini. I used the same layout and stamp set, but the base layer is Shades of Spring DSP and I took the colors from it: Orchid Opulence, Pretty in Pink and Certainly Celery. For embellishments, I used the Pretty in Pink Sending Love Epoxy Brads and that luscious new satin ribbon in Certainly Celery. This time the Jewelry Tag punched tag says "friends" from the Tiny Tags set. When you have a good layout, go ahead use it multiple ways. It's fun and saves create time!

I am so ready for spring! I made these adorable birds from the new On Board Bird book in the Occasions mini.
These are so simple & so much fun! They are covered with Kaleidoscope DSP on the front and solid card stock on the back. The feet are unfolded large paper clips. I decorated them with various ribbons and other embellishments. So much fun, so cute and such a touch of spring!
This is what the "naked" On Board Bird books look like. Just screaming to be played with.
If you haven't used the Kaleidoscope DSP yet, you are missing out. This paper is so cool! If works great for the birds and also cards & scrapbook pages, it's luscious!
I'm off to a shoe box swap tomorrow, so I'm sure I'll have a lot to share with you next week.

I made this prototype bag tag using the new Tote-ally Tess set in the Occasions Mini. We always have bags & totes full of our stamping and scrapbooking gear that we tote around for stamp camps, shoe box swaps, and a million other things. I thought Tote-ally Tess was the perfect stamp set for this. I only wish I was as skinny as she is!
I used a combination of paper piecing and watercoloring using my Watercolor Wonder Crayons with a Blender Pen (my favorite way to watercolor!) Since this is laminated I could not add bling, but a few ribbons never hurt anything! I used the Jumble Alphabet and DSP from the Welcome Neighbor SAB paper pack for the name side of the tag.
I like this so much I plan to make some for my re-usable grocery bags!

One of the best things about being a Stampin' Up! demo is all the neat people I meet and get to turn into friends. One of these is Maria Pane. She's what we call a "sideline" we both roll up into Janet Wakeland's group of demos call the RemARKable Stampers. Such a talented group of people it is my pleasure to be associated with! Maria and I were roommates at convention last year. She was wonderful, put up with my snoring and still finishing swaps in the room at midnight! One night she fell asleep with her glasses on while I was working on swaps! She's an amazing person and a wonderful stamper! Here are a couple of her designs that she made recently.

I loved these two stamps, Chocolate Bunny & Like-O-Meter, immediately. I added "More than chocolate", which is my highest level of "like-ability", and created this card for the swap at our last group meeting. I also used the I {Love} Love wheel on the background, but it's hard to see.
I embossed the bunny with clear embossing powder on Chocolate Chip card stock. It looks almost edible!
Once I had all the bunnies embossed, cut out and ribbon collars tied, they looked so cute all grouped together. I almost didn't want to make them into the cards! I also tried a new ribbon treatment, by layering our luscious new satin ribbon under the punched out hearts. I thought it looked pretty cool!
Either or both of these stamps would make cute & quick Valentine's cards!
