RemARKable Holiday Madness Blog Tour - Post 7

Today I have the ultimate holiday present - a handmade calendar.  I created a 2010 calendar in My Digital Studio, each month has pictures taken in that month from a previous year.  I had a few printed and gave them as presents to my hubby, my parents and one for me!  Here are a few of the pages.

 

My Digital Studio is so easy to use!  There are so many templates included that you can just add your pictures and you are done.  It's also very powerful and you can make your creations starting with a blank page.  These calendars were a big hit!  I need to start working on 2011.

RemARKable Holiday Madness Blog Tour - Post 6

Tonight I have more little boxes, this time with a Halloween theme.

 

All are made from the new Candy Wrapper Bigz Die in the Holiday Mini.  I selected 3 designs from the Wicked Fun Specialty Designer Series Paper, the polka dotted one is flocked!  I dressed them up with Bitty Bat Punches glammed up with Log Cabin Smooch Spritz and various ribbons and trims.  Easy peasy!

RemARKable Holiday Madness Blog Tour - Post 5

I hope you love little gift boxes as much as I do.  Today I have one made with our Top Note die and the new Deck the Halls designer paper and fabric.  Having matching designer paper and fabric opens up so many crafting possibilities!  This little basket opens to hold your present or a love note or whatever!

 

The rose is made from the Deck The Halls fabric and the rose & leaves parts of the Table Setting Stampin' Up! Bigz Xl Die.  Around the outside of the box is the new Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding and Silver Tinsel trim.  I finished it off with a tag from the Tags Til Christmas stamped set punched out using the new Decorative Label Punch.  I love how our stamps and punches work together!

RemARKable Holiday Madness Blog Tour - Post 4

Who doesn't like chocolate?  Today I have a quick way to wrap up a bar chocolate into a nice gift.

 

This takes just a 1/2 sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" card stock wheeled in Craft Whisper White ink with the Sassy Sparkles jumbo wheel.  Then I scored the card stock at 4 1/2" and 5", added a few brads and a piece of ribbon to turn a bar of chocolate into a wonderful gift.  Of course, I had to bling it up a little!  I used the new Glitter Brads and I added a ruffle made from the Metallic Gold Waffle Paper both from the Holiday Mini.  The Pear Pizazz card stock and ribbon coordinate beautifully with the gold waffle paper! To give it some dimension I also used the Snowflake Textured Impressions Embossing Folder Die again.  This die is turning out to be very useful!  It's hard to see from the picture but I also gave everything a sponging with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint.  The tag is from the Tags Til Christmas set in the Holiday Mini.

If you don't like chocolate this could easily be used for licorice sticks, candy canes, honey sticks, even pens or pencils.  The possibilities are endless!

RemARKable Holiday Madness Blog Tour - Post 3

Today I have a fun project that kids would enjoy making.  This fun BOO! Ghostie is made of sparkly felt and ribbon.  Everyone knows all ghosts must sparkle!

Ghostie is a Big Shot creation.  I hand cut his body and the rest is all Big Shot dies.  His streamers were cut from sparkly felt using the new Tasteful Trim Bigz Die. It cuts through felt like butta!  His BOO! is from the Serif Essentials Bigz Alphabet Die Set and his eyes were cut with the Circles #2 Originals Die.  I finished his eyes with white buttons from the Designer Buttons - Neutrals Collection and a little Crystal Effects to glue them. 

Kids could easily assemble these because it's all just glued together!  And I'm sure they would have fun arranging his streamers!

To go along with Ghostie I have a card from my good friend Maria Pane.  She loves Halloween and the Baltimore Ravens.  This is another great card for kids to make using the Spider Web Textured Impressions Embossing Folder Die and the Midnight Raven single stamp.

Beyond Halloween, the raven stamp is a natural for Baltimore Ravens fans!

RemARKable Holiday Madness Blog Tour - Day 2

The holiday season always brings charity and fund raising bake sales, so I made a quick tag to dress up those bake sale items.

 

I kept it simple so that it could be mass produced easily.  I used the Homemade single stamp and cut it up into a few layers to add some dimension.  I also added some bling with Dazzling Diamond glitter on the cupcakes frosting and Gold Lame Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink dots.  It's so easy to cut out using the new 2-3/8" Scallop Circle punch.  I added a strip of Daffodil Striped Grosgrain Ribbon and attached it to our Mini Lunch Sack with a Flower Brad.   Easy Peasy!  

The Mini Lunch Sacks are nice and thick and should hold up nicely at your bake sale.  They are wonderful for decorating because the seam is hidden in a fold and they come with that wonderful scalloped edge.

Today I have a blinged out Holiday card for you.  I love paisleys, so I just had to have the new Paisley Prints set.  It is so cool!

RemARKable Going Green Blog Tour - Post 3 - Drink coasters

Currently, my absolute favorite way to go green and use up my paper scraps is to make Simply Adorned charm inserts.  However, Michele Reynolds covered that yesterday on the tour.  

So I decided to try something else I have been thinking about.  Using the Big Shot with fabric is the latest craze right now.  I used to sew a lot.  So like any good sewer, I have a huge stash of fabric just waiting to be used.  I also drink a lot of water, preferably ice cold.  So I am always in need of drink coasters.  I found this adorable shamrock fabric in my stash, and decided to try making coasters using my Big Shot.  Here is the result.

 

A set of 4 shamrock coasters, all wrapped and ready to give to a friend of mine.  I'll have to make another set for me!  This was so quick & easy, I think I'll make coasters to match all the seasons!

Each coaster used 2 pieces of fabric and 2 pieces of felt for the inside.  I fused it all together with iron on fusible web, all from my stash.  I cut the fabric and the fusible web with the scalloped circle bigz die.  I cut the felt with the clear circle bigz die.  Then I made the sandwich: fabric print side down, felt circle, fusible web, felt circle, fabric right side up.  Here is half the sandwich (fabric, felt, fusible web).  You can see that the felt circles fit perfectly inside the scalloped circle leaving just enough to seal the edges together.

Then I just followed the directions on the fusible web to fuse it all together.  In my case, 15 seconds with a hot dry iron and a damp pressing cloth.  The final result:

I wrapped four together in some of the luscious satin ribbon in the Occasions mini.  Then I made a tag using the Go Green stamp and Sweet Pea Stitched Felt also in the Occasions mini.

I think these would make cute hostess gifts, craft show gifts, or a "thinking of you" gift.

RemARKable Going Green Blog Tour - Post 2 - Use the positive & the negative

Here is the cover of a cute scrapbook I made using the new On Board Heart Book in the Occasions mini with the Love Sparkles Simply Scrappin' kit.  I thought it would be fun to record my favorite things right now and then be able to look back at it years from now. 

I'll share some of the inside pages once the blog tour is over, so check back for them.  When I was finished I had several square chipboard pieces with a big open heart shape in the middle.  Well, I thought these would be a great project for this Going Green blog tour.  What's more eco-conscious than using both the negative & positive parts of the chipboard?  So I created this sun catcher.

As you can see, we were still under siege from the snow when I hung it up!  This was so simple & so fun, it would be a good project for young crafters.  I painted the chipboard with the Frost White Shimmer Paint which made the chipboard look like silver!  Another nice surprise!  Then I mixed the same shimmer paint with a few drops of Classic Ink refill, which I swished on a piece of acetate.  Then I coated the wet paint with Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  I repeated the process with another color of ink and a second piece of acetate.  Once they dried a little, I put them together to sandwich the glitter inside the acetate.  Then I used Sticky Strip to attach the acetate sandwich inside the painted chipboard sandwich.  Added a piece of Basic Gray Taffeta Ribbon to hang it and silver brads on the corners to make sure it stays together.  Here is a closer view.

Pretty cool for stuff that would normally be thrown out!

RemARKable Going Green Blog Tour - Post 1 - Use both sides

My project for today is a banner I made out of our new On Board Scallop Circle book, Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper, Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon and the adorable Eggcellent Eggs Kit all from the Occasions Mini.

Here are close-ups of each letter, click on each picture to see the flowers and rhinestone embellishments from the Eggcellent Eggs Kit.  And I still have lots leftover from the kit to actually do my Easter Eggs!

So you are probably wondering, what's green about this?  Well, the banner is reversible!  The ribbon has eyelets to hold the rhinestone brads that attach each piece.  So when Easter is over, you can turn each piece around to spell out "create".  Perfect for a craft room!  Here are the flip sides.

Each letter is covered in the celery glitter from our Fine Cosmo Stampin' Glitter.  I thought about adding other embellishments, but I liked it this way and did not want to "guild the lily".  The On Board book bases are painted with our craft ink refills, used just like paint.  I also used my Big Shot to cut the designer paper scalloped circles, and the pink circles under each letter.  Oh how I love my Big Shot!
